OVERCOMING REJECTIONS
Assistants to Minister of State in President’s Office (Planning) initially rejected me, saying “the boy is too young for the post.” Later on, they all became my trusted friends.
The Permanent Secretary in the same office, Ambassador Fulgence Kazaura too asked, “wasn’t there another choice,?” He went on to regard me as one of his trusted assistants.
The late Jonas Mwasumbi, formerly a journalist with Tanzania’s Daily News (Mbeya Press Club) also rejected me. He thought I could not teach on the programme sponsored by the then United States Information Services (USIS). He looked at the physique. Despite the assurance by my Principal (Gervas Moshiro) at Tanzania School of Journalism (TSJ) that “this man is the best tutor of the year at this college,” he was not satisfied. I went to train on the programme. My recommendations produced great media cadres. One of them still works with BBC in Dar es Salaam and another is assistant to (Tanzania’s) Finance Minister. I know what rejection means. Lord Jesus Christ (our example) was there too. (He came out triumphantly).
HIDDEN TRUTH ABOUT LORD JESUS CHRIST, by Derek Murusuri, pp 106 & 107.
